End of Summer Camp Highlights 2019
The camps of Northern Star just concluded a fantastic summer. Over ten weeks we hosted 3000 Cub Scouts and their parents and almost 8000 youth in the Scouts BSA program. Included in those numbers are girls from 49 brand new Troops who camped with us for the first time!
We were also busy putting on programs for kids from our entire community. In 2019 we had over 400 kids participate in Discovery Day Camp, which is a week-long day program for boys and girls that offers all the fun stuff like climbing, swimming, archery and more. If you’ve got school age children, you’ll definitely want to check it out for next summer.
Here are highlights from a few of our operations.
At Many Point, Scouts learned by challenging themselves in all sorts of ways this summer!
At Tomahawk, participants in the Wrenches program got some hands on experiences with careers in plumbing and farm mechanics!
At our Cub Camps, we continue to see exciting growth in our family programs that reach girls and boys as well as their parents.
Discovery Day Camp
Over the summer we had 416 youth participate in our weeklong community based day camp programs throughout our metro camp properties! That is 75 more youth than we had attend in 2018! Kids that attended camp ranged in age from Kindergarten to 8th grade and they were able to participate in a wide variety of activities including swimming, boating, climbing, archery, bb guns, crafts, games and much more! Keep an eye out for 2020 dates this winter and mark your calendars!
